Casa Habita Flaunts Contemporary Design Style in Guadalajara’s Hottest Trending Neighborhood

A Boutique Hotel, classified as having under 100 rooms, often independent or part of a bespoke custom group of select intimate abodes, usually found in fashionable districts, creative epicenters with a great sense of decor surrounded by culture on the cutting edge of society.

The Design Hotels brand, 37-rooms and suites Casa Habita, opened in 2015, marvelously sequestered in Guadalajara’s newly fashionable Lafayette district, showcases 20th-century architecture with the contemporary grandeur of a newfangled property.

Two characteristics set apart the lifestyle property its stellar location tucked in the historical Lafayette neighborhood, combined with the immaculate interior design storytellers Britt Moran and Emiliano Salci of Dimore Studio in Milan. Art, design, fashion, and architecture, along with a vibrant city center, are on full display.

Once upon a time, the curated sanctuary appeared as an exquisite home from the Lafayette quadrant’s early 20th-century inception. Today, the non-cookie-cutter fully restored Casa Habita is an opulent oasis and solace from busy days of shopping and dining the city epicenter.

The separate hotel is divided into two individual sites. The 1940s art deco designed main quarters housing the lobby, bar, restaurant, soothing terrace pool.

The modern addition guest quarters display thirty-seven rooms and spa, steam bath, and health club. The spa features 12 different massage treatments, deep cleaning and hydration facials, full-body exfoliation, wraps, and includes a meditation and yoga room.

My favorite area is the pool bar with a rectangular-shaped swimming pool, terrace, and decompress areas for relaxation. The leisure area located in the rooftop of the 40’s house is where I hang out before a bustling night on the town.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Casa Habita, located in the heart of the eclectic Lafayette neighborhood, Guadalajara’s up-and-coming area fuses an animated nightlife of urban reality. It’s not uncommon to see new mansions next to abandoned buildings. Bohemian and trendy with outdoor cafes, art galleries, bars, remote workers, dives, and haute cuisine.

Much of Guadalajara’s architectural charm derives from buildings erected when Mexico for part of New Spain. Eclectic Lafayette arrived in the late 19th-century, mixed European style with art deco, modernist, art nouveau, functionalist, even a Moorish touch is seen among its confines.

There is no better way to traverse the hot spots of the city than traveling by bicycle. Understanding that experiential is a new luxury, Casa Habita has bikes onboard lent to guests to stroll around revamped Lafayette, Colonia, Americana, and Chapultepec districts.

Should your stay be on a Friday and Saturday night, Avenida Chapultepec and its side-streets is the place to be as the bars and restaurants beam with life.

Taking great pride in its burgeoning backdrop, the concierge and front desk hand out the locals off the Antiturista map. The “Tapatios” creed guides guests to an authentic Guadalajara with a mantra of “live like a local,” displaying diners, dives, and where to shop, dance, and immerse into the pulse of the city.

Besides the full range of bars and restaurants to satisfy every taste, if you’re seeking refined dining with a cozy ambiance, have the front desk make you a booking at Hueso. Dine at the long family-style table seating or sit at the bar and mingle with the bartender. The avant-garde restaurant dressed in all white serves exquisite, perfectly cooked meats and more. The plates are meant to be shared.
